His disciples included Swami Shantānand Saraswati, Transcendental Meditation founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Swāmī Swarūpānanda Saraswatī and Swami Karpatri.

During His time as Shankaracharya, World War II came to an end and India gained Her independence. This was no accident — no mere coincidence.

Maha Yagya
During World War II, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati (Guru Dev) organized a Maha Yagya for world peace. 12,000 peace-lovers (including 2,000 Vedic Pandits) gathered in Guru Dev’s presence at the river Jamuna near New Delhi, India to perform a Yagya for world peace. This was probably the greatest Yagya in modern times. World War II came to an end soon afterwards.
