Brahmamuhurta is a period (muhurta) that begins one hour and 36 minutes before sunrise and ends 48 minutes before sunrise.
For example, if sunrise is at 6:00am, the brahmamuhurta begins at 4:24am and ends at 5:12am. (Tip: convert 6:00am to 360 min. minus 96 min. = 264 min.- converts to 4:24am)
If you are awake and rested during this period — it is the ideal time to listen, chant or meditate on Gayatri Mantra for maximum purity (sattva) of mind.
